He wanted to create beauty that breathed, that looked back at him.

On a moonless night, he picked up a huge, wet Pumpkin, and began his work.
The knife slid with sick precision, opening eyes, lips, an almost human expression… until something inside moved.

The pumpkin watched him.
And he smiled.

Lucien, fascinated, continued to carve, although each cut made the Pumpkin’s face twist in pain.
When he finally wanted to stop, the hollow voice whispered:
-Now let’s see how you feel about being carved.

The next morning, the neighbors found a new work on the work table, with Lucien Gravelle’s face trapped in a grimace of terror.
